– 영국 웨일즈 카디프에 있는 국·공립 종합대학교로, 1883년 설립된 영국 Russell Group 소속 명문대학이다. 웨일즈 지역에서 3번째로 오래된 대학으로 2018/19년 기준 학생수 3만명이 넘는 영국내에서 가장 규모가 큰 대학 중 하나이다.

History
- 1883년 University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire로 설립
- 1893년 Wales University College, North Wales University College와 함께 웨일즈대학교 산하 소속으로 들어갔다.
- 1909년 Cardiff의 Cathays Park를 중심으로 메인 캠퍼스 빌딩 및 부설시설 오픈
- 1931년 의학대학 설치 (1984년 University of Wales College of Medicine으로 분리되어 나감)
- 1972년 University College, Cardiff로 교명 변경
- 1996년 University of Wales, Cardiff로 교명 변경
- 1997년 독립적인 학위 수여 시작
- 1999년 웨일즈대학교에 속한 상태에서 현재의 교명으로 변경
- 2004년 University of Wales College of Medicine과 다시 통합, 웨일즈대학교와 법적으로 완전히 분리
